Don't forget about the rme pc card for laptops (used with the multiface and digiface boxes).

It could be that the old 16 bit convertors are a bit cloudy and you are hearing this as warm. Or, you're so used to the sound of the old a/d's that the new, higher res one sounds so different.

Are you using your internal laptop hd? (5400rpm).
might be the cause, had same problem with my fw motu interface, external hd (7200rpm) solved those problems..

I take it you bought the ''hdsp 96/32''? if you just got the hammerfall lite ''96/32'', you will not have totalmix. the ''hdsp'' prefix indicates the onboard totalmix dsp.
