We need to know how many channels of ins and outs you require. You didn't say how many you want to use ... how many tape sends? do you want to return all the tape sends back to the console...

Are you using your internal laptop hd? (5400rpm). might be the cause, had same problem with my fw motu interface, external hd (7200rpm) solved those problems.. cheers huub...

Rme fireface 800 cracks and pops - your best bet is to go to the rme forums. i suspect you have a new g5 dual 2ghz. there has been some reported problem with them and the frontside buss architecture. this is the g5's with the pci slots not the pci-x s

Rme fireface 800 or presonus firepod - the fireface is probably one of the best all in one solutions out there...ombining daw interface, converters and mic pre, all pluged into your 1394 and no further pci or anything needed... but you can still go bet

Rme fireface 800 cracks and pops - i don't know how this works on a mac, but you will wanna make sure your hard drives are running in dma mode 5. i have seen this happen to two separate daws that had stuttering and skipping on playback. when installing
